NON-ALCOHOLIC SECTION

There has been a number of complaints/observations from around the world that indeed every photo on this site seems to revolve around drinking.

This indeed true; the site has always been intended to be a reflection of our time here. So, due to demand, these are photos that have nothing to do with alcohol at all (Hopefully we can find some...)

PEACE TOWER TRIP 13/02/2002

The ducks near the bottom of this photo told me that they would rather be shot at in Australia than be in these freezing cold waters.

Inside the most luxurious hotel in Ottawa, the Chateau de Laurier. If we had have stayed much longer I'm sure we would have been kicked out.

After a brief and uneventful struggle, one Australian hooligan taken over the Canadian parliament and symbolised this victory in the snow out the front.

The Peace Tower... You may notice that the flag is at half mast. This is indeed because I casually mentioned to thier Prime Minister that Canadian beer sucked and Australian beer was better. Naturally, he instantly announced a day of mourning.

Looking out towards Hull from the Peace tower, the massive tower out the front of the Canadian parliament house, put there to honour all those who died in all the wars Canada's been involved in (essentially the same ones as Australia).

Another beaut veiw from the tower - the city from here looks quite European.

An attempt at sillouette photography (just bullshitting, we're just not that good taking photos) of yours truly and Edna, another exchange student from Monterrey, in northern Mexico.

Sorry, a photo from the pub got in. After the peace tower trip finding out why Carlos has been Mexico's 'dancing by yourself' champion for the last 3 years straight.

At Olivers with Edna (again, sorry this photo shouldn't be in the non-alcoholic section).

Again at Olivers. Another week, another 'Canada' t-shirt to be won...

CANAL SKATING, 09/02/2002

The world biggest skating rink, about a 4 minute walk from Res!

Canal skating. We were here today on a 'Winterlude' day, where people come from all over Canada, especially Quebec and Ottawa, to skate this day. This is about as busy as it apparently gets...

With Ben from our floor on Res, Canada's favourite hippie.

Some of the ice sculptures were unbelievable.

We skated for a considerable distance, and from Carleton University you can actually get right into the city to the downtown area. (I think the Canal goes for 11 kilometres...?)

The beginning of a great sunset...

PARLIAMENT OF CANADA TOUR - 01/02/2002

Paliament building. All of those back home who swore that the capital of Canada was Toronto, the following pictures are to prove otherwise...

The 'eternal flame' out the front is useful for the freezing Ottawa weather. I suppose its why they put it there.

Enjoying a reflective moment at another old building.

Gothic style architecture of inside the parliament buildings.
